One Small Chance is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to helping disadvantaged youth succeed academically, athletically, and in everyday life. Through mentorship, scholarships, community outreach, and athletic programs, we work to ensure that circumstances don’t define a child’s future. From classrooms to sports fields, our team is committed to making sure every young person gets one small chance to thrive, regardless of the challenges they face.

One Small Chance was founded by Chance Archer at the age of 17 in 2023, inspired by a deeply personal experience. On the first day of middle school, Chance woke up without school supplies, a moment that highlighted the challenges faced by many students in similar situations.

Growing up, Chance encountered numerous challenges, including food insecurity and a lack of consistent support. His early years were marked by instability, frequent moves, and the realities of poverty. Despite these challenges, Chance remained determined to succeed academically and personally.

Recognizing that many of his peers faced similar obstacles, Chance established One Small Chance to bridge opportunity gaps for disadvantaged youth. The organization's mission is to provide tangible support, such as school supplies, athletic scholarships, and mentorship, to ensure that no student is held back by their circumstances.

Starting with local initiatives, One Small Chance organized school supply drives, holiday toy collections, and provided sports equipment for student-athletes. In its first year, the organization raised over $10,000 in funds and resources, impacting more than 500 individuals. Chance’s leadership and dedication have been recognized by local school boards and community organizations.

In 2025, Chance was honored with the Spirit of Youth award as part of Hanover County's Spirit of Volunteerism Awards. This recognition highlighted his exceptional contributions to the community through One Small Chance, underscoring his commitment to empowering underprivileged youth and inspiring others to give back.

Today, One Small Chance continues to grow, driven by a team of passionate volunteers and supporters. The organization stands as a testament to the power of resilience and the belief that every child deserves a chance to thrive.
